Sport
Children experience and have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sporting activities from Kindergarten to Year 6, as part of their PD/H/PE lessons. Extra skill development is provided by visiting Sports Development Officers and rotational sport is also offered including golf, bowls and tennis. School carnivals are held for Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics.
If successful in school competitions, the opportunity exists for students in Years 3 to 6 to progress to higher levels of competition if they so wish. The students have had many successes over the years in a variety of sports including swimming, netball, rugby league, touch football, soccer, athletics, OzTag, cricket and cross country representing at Diocese and Polding levels. We have had students obtain representative honours including at NSW PSSA level and NSW PSSA National level.
For carnivals, children are placed into three HOUSES, with family members being organised into the same House. The House names reflect the school’s historical link with the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart.
MACKILLOP (YELLOW) is named after Saint Mary MacKillop, the founder of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart.
FITZROY (BLUE) is the name of the place where Saint Mary MacKillop was born.
PENOLA (RED) is the town where the first Saint Joseph School was opened.
